Anterior placenta: While both anterior and posterior

While both anterior and posterior placenta positions are completely normal, their location can significantly influence various aspects of the pregnancy experience. An anterior placenta is when the placenta attaches to the front wall of the uterus. This is normal, but there are a few things to be aware of. Having an anterior placenta may cushion your baby’s movements, so it may take you longer to first notice them. As your baby grows, you'll get to know their pattern of movements. Although having an anterior placenta can soften your baby's movements, always call your midwife if you think your baby’s moving around less. Don't rely on home monitoring kits, as these may give you a false impression of your baby's wellbeing. Anterior placenta is the term doctors, midwives and sonographers use to describe your placenta when it's attached itself to the front (tummy-side) wall of your uterus, rather than the back (spine-side), top or side walls.
