In exercise of the power conferred by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Judge of the Supreme Court, as the Chief Justice of India, with effect from 11th November, 2024. Justice Khanna currently presides over a bench reviewing various PMLA provisions, an indication of his ongoing influence on matters of significant public interest. Justice Sanjiv Khanna was elevated to the Supreme Court of India on 18 January 2019, and is the 51 Chief Justice of India Justice Sanjiv Khanna is the 51st Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India. He was elevated to the Supreme Court of India on 18th January, 2019 and presently, he is the Patron-in-Chief, National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and Chairperson, National Judicial Academy, Bhopal (NJA).
