Nevertheless, many banks will accept demonetised coins from members of the public providing they have a bank account with them. Policy may vary from bank to bank, and some may charge a handling fee. Just been having a discussion with my partner, i needed to pay some money into my account so buy something of the internet with my card, and i emptied the change in my pocket and a few jars and the bank refused to accept the change, and he said by law they have to accept it whether its baged up in pounds or not, so just wondering is this true? Hi all, sorry if this question has been asked previously. I have a small business, sandwich shop/deli, and have always obtained change from my local Post Office. Unfortunately, it looks like the Post Office is closing and I wondered where else I could go for my change - usually about £100 a week in coins from 50p down to 5p. I use a personal account for my business to save on fees and my bank (Barclays) have said I need a business account to obtain change from them on a regular basis.
