Dr DEEPAK PANDYA, NEUROANATOMIST, 1932–2020 Ms Sunita Lyn Williams, a retired U.S. Navy Captain, is well-known as an American astronaut. Her two spaceflights to the International Space Station combined lasted more than 321 days, ranking her second (after American astronaut Peggy Whitson) for most time spent in space by a woman. There is a possibility of her being included in a third spaceflight on Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft to the International Space Station in the near future ... Sunita Williams' father, Deepak Pandya, is from Gujarat, and her mother, Ursuline Bonnie Zalokar, is Slovenian-American. She is married to Michael J. Williams. The NASA astronaut Sunita Williams’ father, Dr Deepak Pandya passed away near Boston in USA at an age of 88 on Sunday. He was survived by his wife and three children including Williams. Nasa astronaut Sunita Williams finally returned to Earth after her prolonged nine-month stay at the International Space Station. Her roots can be traced to the village of Jhulasan in Gujarat’s Mehsana, which is now celebrating her safe comeback with special prayers, yagnas and firecrackers.
