Two types of hydatidiform mole, complete and partial, have been described based on both morphologic and cytogenetic criteria (Table 1). 1,2 Epidemiology Epidemiologic studies have reported wide regional variations in the incidence of molar ... Learn about the definition, epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis and treatment of complete hydatidiform mole, a gestational trophoblastic disease with villous hydrops and trophoblastic hyperplasia. See ultrasound, histologic and molecular images and references. Gestational Trophoblastic Diseases: Part 1: Complete and Partial Hydatidiform Moles What are gestational trophoblastic diseases? Gestational trophoblastic diseases (GTDs) are a spectrum of tumors and tumor-like conditions characterized by the abnormal proliferation of placental tissue.
