The last date for the filing of Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the financial year 2024-25 (Assessment Year 2025 -26) has been extended. The last date to file Income Tax Returns (ITR) for FY 2024–25 (AY 2025 –26) is 15 September 2025 . Filing is now simpler with pre-filled forms and faster online processing. The Income Tax Department has extended the ITR filing due date to September 16, 2025 , for AY 2025 -26. The e- filing deadline was extended by CBDT after technical issues on the income tax portal.
