Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed in India every year on July 26 to mark the victory of the Indian Army in the Kargil War of 1999. The war was fought between India and Pakistan in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir, and it lasted for over two months, from May to July 1999. On 26th July 2025, a special Kargil Vijay Diwas Padyatra will be held in Kargil to commemorate India’s 1999 victory and honour the bravery of soldiers. Around 800–1000 participants, including youth, veterans, soldiers, and families of martyrs, will walk together, with cultural performances en route and a culminating tribute at the memorial.
