School Education Shagun is an over reaching initiative to improve the school education system. The initiative involves creating a junction in the form of a platform for all portals and websites of the Department of School Education in the Government of India and all States and Union Territories (UTs).
The word 'Shagun' is coined from two different words 'Shala', meaning Schools and 'Gunvatta' meaning Quality. NIOS is the board of education under the Union Government of India that administers examinations for open schools. It offers secondary and senior secondary education, vocational courses and distance learning programs. The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) (Hindi: राष्ट्रीय मुक्त विद्यालयी शिक्षा संस्थान), formerly National Open School is a national level board of education in India, controlled and managed by the Government of India. National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is the board of education under the Union Government of India established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to provide education to all segments of society under the motive to increase literacy and flexible learning.
