Rawalpindi (“Village of Rawals”) occupies the site of an old village inhabited by the Rawals, a group of yogis (ascetics). New Islamabad International Airport is located about 26 kilometers away from the city of Rawalpindi. Daily flights to and from various international and local destinations are available. Rawalpindi has its own central railway station, with regular sevices to many destinations within Pakistan. A drone reportedly crashed near Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium hours before a PSL match, raising security concerns amid India-Pakistan tensions. The incident damaged a nearby restaurant, injuring two civilians, prompting investigations into the drone's origin.
