On January 7, 2025, V Narayanan was announced as the new Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), succeeding S Somanath. Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Narayanan is renowned for his expertise in rocket propulsion, holding an M.Tech in Cryogenic Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering. Dr. V Narayanan as the Chairman of Project Management Council-Space Transportation System (PMC-STS), the decision making body in all Launch Vehicle projects & programmes, guided the operational and development activities of launch vehicle of ISRO .
