World PT Day toolkit World PT Day is on 8 September every year, and an opportunity for physiotherapists from all over the world to raise awareness about the crucial contribution their profession makes to keeping people well, mobile and independent. World Physiotherapy Day, observed on September 8 since 1996, highlights the importance of physiotherapy in restoring movement after illness or surgery. The 2025 theme, “Healthy Ageing,” focuses on preventing frailty and falls through exercise. In 1996, 8 September was designated as World PT Day. This is the date World Physiotherapy was founded in 1951. The day marks the unity and solidarity of the global physiotherapy community. It is an opportunity to recognise the work that physiotherapists do for their patients and community.
